What is nattokinase enzyme used for?

Natto

What is the Nattokinase enzyme?

Nattokinase is a fermented soybean, which is an enzyme extracted from natto. We all know that natto is a sticky food. It is a breakfast that Japanese people often eat. Nattokinase is actually not food like natto but refers to the sticky part of the natto surface.

We call it a serine protease academically. Studies have shown that nattokinase not only has fibrinolytic activity. It can also activate other fibrinolytic enzymes, such as prourokinase and tissue plasminogen promoters. Simply put, nattokinase can dissolve blood clots! Here you can see its specific mechanism of action.

What are the effects of nattokinase?

The most obvious effects are:

  • Dissolve thrombus and reduce the possibility of thrombosis
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Prevent atherosclerosis
  • Anticoagulant

The above are the most significant effects of nattokinase. But in addition to these, some early studies have shown that nattokinase has the following possible effects.

  • Decrease chance of getting deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • High cholesterol
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Angina
  • “Hardening of the ateries” (atherosclerosis)
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Poor circulation
  • Varicose veins
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Muscle spasms
  • Infertility
  • Cancer
  • Beriberi
  • Other conditions

The potential effects of nattokinase are many. It is a kind of raw material for health care products with great research potential. If more clinical trials can be done to prove its effectiveness. In today’s aging society, nattokinase is very likely to become a health care product that occupies the mainstream of the market.

Are there any side effects of nattokinase?

Nattokinase has been shown to be relatively safe based on current research. 90% of our customers have not experienced any side effects after taking it for several years. If a woman on her period increasing blood volume counts, then it’s one of the side effects.

In addition, the Japanese have eaten natto for hundreds of years. Just like we drink coffee every day, many people in Japan also eat natto every day without pointing out any problems.

What is the difference between nattokinase and thrombolytic drugs?

The common drug on the market to deal with thrombosis symptoms is Warfarin. This is a commonly used anticoagulant. Its main function is to block the action of vitamin K in the liver, reduce the synthesis of clotting factors, prolong the clotting time, and achieve the effect of preventing thrombosis. This is different from the role of nattokinase in dissolving blood clots. The picture below shows the thrombolysis experiment performed by Eiffel Biotech pouring nattokinase on an artificial thrombus. It can be seen that the effect of nattokinase in dissolving artificial thrombus is very good. And in the body, this effect lasts for 8-12 hours.

Can I use natto instead of nattokinase?

Normally, natto contains 20-40FU of nattokinase per gram. Eiffel Biotech has many years of experience, and nattokinase capsules of about 5000FU have the best effect on consumers. If you take two 5000FU nattokinase capsules a day, then equivalently you need to consume 166g natto. Take the Japanese boxed natto, for example, you need to eat more than 3 boxes a day. Natto itself has some peculiar smell, not everyone can accept it. This has also become resistance for you to substituting natto for nattokinase.

But fortunately, Eiffel Biotech’s BSNK66® Nattokinase has a special deodorizing technology that allows you to take it easily. Two capsules can achieve the effect of 3 boxes of natto.

In addition, natto contains vitamin K2, but our BSNK66® nattokinase removes K2. K2 itself promotes blood clotting, which is contrary to our hope to reduce blood clots and increase blood flow.

Special Precautions and Warnings of taking nattokinase

The following people are not suitable for nattokinase

  • Pre-natal and post-natal: At present, there are not enough clinical trials to prove whether taking nattokinase before and after pregnancy will affect it, so we do not recommend it.
  • Bleeding disorders: Nattokinase seems to act like a “blood thinner” and might make bleeding disorders worse. Use with caution.
  • Hypotension: Because nattokinase has the effect of lowering blood pressure.
  • Before and after surgery: May cause bleeding.
